Also known as 亢辑 (Kean Chiat), 建 鹊 Jianque is the eldest son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim.  He was adopted by 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and his first wife, 林月娘 Lin Yue Niang.  建 鹊 Jianque was a farmer in Gehou, Yongchun County, China.  In 1933, he married 章全 Zhang Quan.  He left for Malaya (now Malaysia) in 1937 to assist his brother 建豹 Kean Par (5th son) to manage the family rubber estate in Betong, Thailand.  He returned to China in 1947, taking with him 建士 Jianshi (17th son) who was then 11 years of age.

 

建 鹊 Jianque had one (1) daughter and two (2) sons.  The eldest son, 耀祖 Yaozhu, passed away in 1998.  建鹊 Jianque’s daughter, 锥英 Zhuiying, lives in Sanming, Fujian Province about 300km to the north-west of Jindou.  The second son, 益森 Yisen, is a farmer.  He, and his children and descendants, lives in the family home (in Gehou, Jindou) that 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim built in 1910.  Living in the same house is the widow of 耀祖 Yaozhu and his descendants.

 

There are 61 members in the 建鹊 Jianque family.  This is the second largest family of the 44 Ong Seok Kim’s sons and daughters.  Their relationship to 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim is as follows:

Also known as 亚米, 建龙 Kean Leong is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. 建龙 Kean Leong was born in Penang. Adopted by the family, 建龙 Kean Leong studied in Chung Cheng Primary School, Sitiawan. He also received English education, completing Form 3. Thus, 建龙 Kean Leong has a good working knowledge of both Chinese and English.

In his early years, 建龙 Kean Leong worked in a grocery shop, and then as a chauffeur. The last 4 decades or so of his career was spent working as a clerk in a Chinese trading business in Sitiawan. Being the eldest son in Malaysia, 建龙 Kean Leong managed the day-to-day affairs of the family after the passing of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim in 1964.
 

建龙 Kean Leong married Khoo Ching Keow on the first day of Chinese New Year in 1937, the same day his sister 清碧 Cheng Peik (5th daughter) wedded Tan Ghee Toon. 建龙 Kean Leong and Ching Keow have four (4) children – Yit Chye, Aik Seng, Aik Wah and Geok Haw. Geok Haw was adopted from 建龙 Kean Leong’s sister, 感香 Kam Heong (11th daughter). Yit Chye is a retired teacher, residing in Singapore. Aik Seng is a retired technician, residing in Subang Jaya, Selangor State. Geok Haw lives in Kuala Lumpur. Ching Keow and Aik Wah live in Sitiawan.


建龙 Kean Leong passed away in 2001 at the age of 84 after a short illness. Ching Keow is in her 90s.

Also known as 亚壳, 建虎 Kean Hor is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District (now Manjung District), Perak State. He studied in Chung Cheng Primary School and Nan Hwa High School in Sitiawan. 建虎 Kean Hor also had English education up to Grade 8. Following secondary schooling, he studied at an electronic institute in Penang.

 

建虎 Kean Hor went to Singapore in the early 1940s to work for the then Singapore Broadcasting Corporation. His employer sent him to England in 1955 to further his engineering studies. On his return, he rose to the rank of chief engineer. 建虎 Kean Hor contracted cancer and passed away in 1967 at the age of 49.


In 1945, 建虎 Kean Hor married Lim Seok Cheng. They have 5 children – Geok Kooi (Katherine), Chong Guan (Gavin), Geok May, Chong Jin (Gerald) and Geok Sim. Geok Kooi, Chong Guan and Chong Jin are married with children. They reside and work in Singapore. Geok Kooi is a retired teacher, Chong Guan runs a private practise in alternative and complementary medicine and Chong Jin works for a private company.


Seok Cheng is in her 80s. She lives in Singapore, with Geok May and Geok Sim.

建豹 Kean Par is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. 建豹 Kean Par was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District, Perak State. He studied in Nan Hwa High School in Sitiawan. He also completed Form 3 in Anglo-Chinese School in Kg. Koh, Sitiawan.

 

He worked as a clerk and shop assistant in the family retail business. During the Japanese occupation, 建豹 Kean Par helped the family to manage its rubber plantation in Betong, Thailand. He was apprehended by the Japanese and tortured. After the Japanese occupation, he worked as a manager of rubber plantation for public-listed companies for over two (2) decades in various parts of Malaysia including Senai in Johor State, Kuala Lipis in Pahang State and Taiping, Parit and Ipoh in Perak State. He retired and settled down in Sitiawan in 1975.
 

建豹 Kean Par married Tan Ah Hwa (Lucy) in 1953. They have no children of their own. But they adopted Geok Yen (Grace) from 建豹 Kean Par’s brother, Kean Pang (12th son); and Chong Eng (Charles) from brother Kean Khow (8th son). Both Geok Yen and Chong Eng are married and have children of their own. Geok Yen lives in Melbourne, Australia and Chong Eng lives and works in the Klang Valley.

 

建豹 Kean Par passed away in 1992 at the age of 70 while Ah Hwa passed away seven (7) years earlier, at the age of 58.

Also known as 亚麟, 建凤 Kean Hong is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. 建凤 Kean Hong, also the god-son of Wang Rongchao (the younger brother of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim), was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. He studied Chinese in Nan Hwa High School in the morning and English at Anglo-Chinese School in Kg. Koh, Sitiawan in the afternoon.

 

In 1948, shortly after the Japanese occupation of Malaya, 建凤 Kean Hong went to Singapore and got a job as a technician with the then Singapore Broadcasting Corporation. He worked there until his retirement in 1978 at the age of 55.


In 1948, 建凤 Kean Hong married Nah Sye Kiang. They have seven (7) children – Soon Bee (Rodney), Geok Ling (Christine), Geok Cheng (Doris), Soon Hock (d), Soon Teik, Geok Suan (Angela) and Geok Hong (Sarah). With the exception of Geok Cheng who resides and works with a global mining and heavy machinery company in Melbourne, Australia, the other children reside and work in Singapore. Soon Bee is running a construction supplies company, Geok Ling is a principal of a primary school and Soon Teik is in corporate finance.


建凤 Kean Hong passed away in 2002 at the age of 79. This was 12 years after the passing of his wife Sye Kiang in 1990.

Also known as 亚妹, 建蛟 Kean Khow is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 建蛟 Kean Khow completed Senior Middle 2 in Nan Hwa High School, Sitiawan in the early 1940s.

 

During the Japanese occupation, as a teenager, 建蛟 Kean Khow peddled to sell ice water and ice ball. After the Japanese occupation, he worked as a salesman in a fabric shop in Sitiawan and later in Ipoh, Perak State. Later, he changed careers and worked as a manager in a rubber plantation. In 1958, 建蛟 Kean Khow left Sitiawan for Singapore where he was involved in the import and export business.


In 1950, 建蛟 Kean Khow married Lim I Choo. They have eight (8) children – Gak Tong, Chong Keat, Gak Chew, Chong Tiong, Chong Ghee, Chong Eng, Geok Yeong (Jane) and Geok Peng (Wendy). Chong Eng was given to 建蛟 Kean Khow’s brother, 建豹 Kean Par (5th son) for adoption.

 

建蛟 Kean Khow passed away in 1987 at the age of 61. I Choo is in her 80s and lives in Singapore with Chong Keat.

建鹏 Kean Peng is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. He attended Chung Cheng Primary School in Sitiawan.

 

During the Japanese occupation of Malaya, 建鹏 Kean Peng joined the local resistance movement to fight the Japanese. He was interested in politics and was an early member of the Sitiawan Branch of the Malayan (later Malaysian) Chinese Association (MCA).


建鹏 Kean Peng married Ling Ching Eon in 1952. They have four (4) children – Yeuk Yen, Chong Sek (Dato’), Yeuk Jiuen (Linda) and Chong Te. All are married and have children. With the exception of Yeuk Yen who lives in Ipoh, Perak State the other children live and work in the Klang Valley.


建鹏 Kean Peng passed away in 2006 at the age of 79. Ching Eon is in her 80s and lives in the Subang Jaya, Selangor State.

Also known as 亚民, 建贤 Kean Hian is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. In his early life, 建贤 Kean Hian worked in a bookshop in Sitiawan. Later, he worked in a cinema and as a rubber tapper in the family’s rubber estate.


In 1952, 建贤 Kean Hian married Ngooi Mooi Swa. They have seven (7) children – Yik Low, Chong Lai, Cheong Sin, Cheong Pen, Ngek Ho, Chong Sai and Geok Cheng (Michelle). All the children are married with children. Members of the 建贤 Kean Hian family reside and work in the Klang Valley.


建贤 Kean Hian passed away in 1978 at the age of 50. Mooi Swa is in her 80s and lives in Puchong, Selangor State.

建国 Kean Keok is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. 建国 Kean Keok was the first born child of the family following the completion of the family house (green coloured house) in Sitiawan in 1929.

 

He started working as a bus ticket collector. He had also worked in a grocery shop. During the Japanese occupation in the early 1940s, he earned his living as a trishaw rider. In the 1960s, he worked as an electrician with a local company in Sitiawan.
 

建国 Kean Keok married Chew Kim Liew in 1959. Kim Liew is the granddaughter of Lim Nya alias Hup Choon Ma who donated the land for Chung Cheng Primary School in 1920. 建国 Kean Keok and Kim Liew have five (5) children – Chong Tek, Chong Aik, Chong Hui, Geok Poh and Chong Huat. All the children are married and have children of their own. With the exception of Chong Aik, who lives and works in Sitiawan, the other members of the 建国 Kean Keok family reside and work in Kuala Lumpur.
 

建国 Kean Keok passed away in 2002 at the age of 73. Kim Liew is in her late 70s and lives with Chong Tek in Kuala Lumpur.

建邦 Kean Pang is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. He studied in Nan Hwa High School, Sitiawan and graduated with a teaching certificate in the early 1950s.

 

He was employed as a teacher/principal in a numbers of Chinese schools in the states of Kedah and Perlis. He retired to Kuala Lumpur where most of his children reside and work.
 


建邦 Kean Pang married Ko Hooi Lan in 1955. They have six (6) children of whom one (1) [Geok Yen, (Grace)] was given to建邦 Kean Pang’s brother, 建豹 Kean Par (5th son), for adoption. The other five (5) children are: Giok Choun, Chong Jit, Geok Thiang (Datuk), Chong King and Chong Yooi. With the exception of Chong Yooi, the other four (4) children are married. Giok Choun lives in Sungei Petani, Kedah State; Chong Jit and Geok Thiang live and work in Kuala Lumpur; and Chong King works in the food industry in Ireland.

 

建邦 Kean Pang passed away in 1990 at the age of 60. Hooi Lan is in her late 70s.

Also known as 来福 and 阿三, 建福 Kean Hock was born in Sitiawan, whose mother is 彭亚荫 Phie Ah Im. In his younger days, he went to Singapore to train as a dental technician. He practised the trade until 1987 when he passed away at 56.


建福 Kean Hock married Teo Siok Choo in 1955. They have four (4) children – Bee Tin (Rosemarie), Chong Bin (Aaron), Chong Sun (Ben) and Bee Leng (Irene). All the children are married. With the exception of Bee Leng, who resides in the United States, the other three (3) children and their family live and work in Singapore.
 

Siok Choo is in her 70s and lives in Singapore.

Also known as 亚文, 建文 Kean Boon is the son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 建文 Kean Boon had his early education in Chung Cheng Primary School. He completed 6 years of English education.

 

In the early years, 建文 Kean Boon worked in a grocery shop. He then joined the Malayan Armed Forces and was based in Taiping, Perak State for five (5) years. In 1966, he returned to Sitiawan, landed a job as a clerk in the Malayan Flour Mill in Damar Laut near Lumut. In 1978, on his way to work, he was fatally injured in a motor accident. He was 42 years of age.


建文 Kean Boon married Lim Goay Yong in 1962. They have three (3) children – Siew Chu (Beth), Siew Ai and Guan Guey. Siew Ai is married with two (2) children. Siew Chu works in the banking sector in Sydney, Australia while Siew Ai and Guan Guey live and work in the Klang Valley.


Goay Yong is in her late 60s and lives in Puchong, Selangor State.

Also known as 胡斑, 建士 Jianshi was born in Sitiawan, son of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim and 彭亚荫 Phie Ah Im. In 1947, at the age of 11, 建士 Jianshi followed his elder brother 建鹊 Jianque to China. He resided there permanently.  He graduated in History from 厦门大学 Xiamen University, 建士 Jianshi taught Logistics and Philosophy at 江西共产主义劳动大学 Jiangxi Communist Labour University in 南昌市 Nanchang City from 1959 to 1982; and at 华侨大学 Huaqiao University in Quanzhou from 1982 to 1987. He was an editor of the department’s news bulletin from 1987 till his retirement in 1996. Presently, 建士 Jianshi resides in 华侨大学 Huaqiao University campus. He visited relatives in Malaysia and Singapore on four (4) occasions, in 1989, 1992, 1995 and 2007.


In 1966, 建士 Jianshi married 危亚玲 Wei Yaling, the granddaughter of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim’s 7th uncle, 王春豫 Wang Chunyu. They have two (2) children, 王静 Wang Jing (Phoebe) and 王平 Wang Ping. Both the children are married. 王静 Wang Jing (Phoebe) lives in Toronto, Canada. 王平 Wang Ping, a businessman, lives in Xiamen.


In 2006, 危亚玲 Wei Yaling passed away at the age of 66. 建士 Jianshi remarried, to 鲁成学 Lu Chengxue. There are no children from the second marriage.

Also known as 亚祥, 建祥 Kean Siang’s mother is 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 建祥 Kean Siang completed Junior Middle 3 in Nan Hwa High School, Sitiawan and Form 5 in an English school.

 

In the mid-1950s, he was selected as a trainee teacher, attended teacher’s training course, and was qualified to teach English as a second language. 建祥 Kean Siang was posted to Chung Cheng Primary School, Sitiawan to teach English as a second language. He taught in the school for 15 years, from 1957 until 1972, when he passed away at the age of 35 from an unknown cause.


建祥 Kean Siang was not married.

Also known as 亚和, 建皓 Kean Hoe’s mother is 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 建皓 Kean Hoe studied Chinese to Senior Middle 3 in Nan Hwa High School, Sitiawan. 建皓 Kean Hoe also attended English classes in Methodist English School in Kg. Koh, Sitiawan. He joined the Malayan Field Force in the mid-1950s and spent a good part of his life in the Malayan jungle in defence of the country.


In 1960, 建皓 Kean Hoe married Ng Soy Moi. They have four (4) children – Chong Poh, Cheng Leng, Siew Bee (May) and Chong Aun. 建皓 Kean Hoe and Soy Moi live in Sitiawan. All the children are married and have their own children. Chong Poh and Chong Aun live and work in Sitiawan. Cheng Leng lives in Subang Jaya, Selangor State. Siew Bee lives in Jakarta where she helps her husband, Lee Soon Wei (Nelson), in his finance business.


Siew Bee has made significant donation, over the past years, to the Ong Seok Kim Memorial Education Fund.

Also known as 九斗 and 亚斗, 建斗 Kean Tawi’s mother is 彭亚荫 Phie Ah Im. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 建斗 Kean Tawi studied in Chung Cheng Primary School in Sitiawan and Dindings High School in Pundut, Lumut.

 

After leaving school, he was trained as a cloth dye specialist, working in textile factories in Butterworth and Singapore. Currently, he operates a taxi business in Skudai, Johor State.


建斗 Kean Tawi’s first marriage ended in a divorce. They have one (1) child, Ong Chong Hun who is married and lives and works in Butterworth.


The second marriage is to Wong Sai Yeen. They have two (2) children – Chia Nien (Kenny) and Chia Chia. Chia Nien is married, with two (2) children. The 建斗 Kean Tawi family lives in Skudai/Johor Jaya, Johor State.

Also known as 建正 and 亚伦, 中正 Teong Cheng’s mother is 彭亚荫 Phie Ah Im. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 中正 Teong Cheng is named after Chung Cheng Primary School, a school in which 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim was the pioneer in its establishment and development. He studied in St. Francis School, Sitiawan.

 

中正 Teong Cheng started work at the age of 16. He joined the Malaysian Police and was posted to various parts of the country including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Butterworth and Ipoh. He retired to Bedong in Kedah State after over three (3) decades in the Police force.


The marriage ended in a divorce. They have two (2) children – Su Ching (Lydia) and Ming Jon (Samuel). Su Ching works in Penang while Ming Jon works in Sydney.


中正 Teong Cheng remarried, to Jamilah bte Zainol. Jamilah is a teacher. They have two (2) children, Emir Daniel Ong and Azman Harkal Ong.

建才 Kean Chye is the son of 邱椿萱 Khoo Toon Suan and Lim Keat Sim.  椿萱 Toon Suan is the brother of 邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee, 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim’s second wife. 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim/邱素枝 Khoo Saw Kee adopted Kean Chye as a god-son. He studied in Anglo-Chinese School in Kg. Koh, Sitiawan.

 

He started his career in the printing business. He established a printing business in Kuala Lumpur in the 1970s and has been in the industry ever since.


建才 Kean Chye married Leong Sau Che in 1973. They have three (3) children – Khay Ian, Khay Sam and Pek Wen (Wendy). Khay Ian is married with two (2) children. The 建才 Kean Chye family lives in the Klang Valley.

Also known as 建裕 Kean Joo, 永裕 Eng-Joo’s mother is 彭亚荫 Phie Ah Im. Born in Sitiawan, 永裕 Eng-Joo is English-educated, studied at St Francis School, Sitiawan and Anglo-Chinese School in Kg. Koh, Sitiawan and later in University of Science Malaysia in Penang and Macquarie University in Sydney.

 

He worked as a town planner and economist for the public and private sectors in Kuala Lumpur for over a decade. In 1988, 永裕 Eng-Joo and his family migrated to Australia. In Sydney, he worked as an environmental planner for a local council and later for the New South Wales State Government for two (2) decades. In later years, he established his own consulting firm and practised as an environmental planner.


永裕 Eng-Joo married Lee Yee-Fong in 1976. Yee-Fong worked in the University of Sydney. She retired in 2012. They have two (2) children, Gake-Soon (Emily) and Chong Heng (Elvin). Both are married and live in Sydney.

Also known as 建成 and 亚憨, 大成 Tai Seng’s mother is 彭亚荫 Phie Ah Im. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 大成 Tai Seng attended Chung Cheng Primary School in Sitiawan and Methodist High School in Kg. Koh, Sitiawan.

 

He joined the Singapore Police at an early age, taking voluntary retirement in the mid-1990s. He returned to Malaysia and has since worked as a marketing manager with an industrial hardware company.


大成 Tai Seng married Chan Kwai Chun (Janie) in year 2000. Kwai Chun is a solicitor. They have a young daughter, Pei Pei (Ivy). The family lives in Kuala Lumpur.

Also known as 建定, 天定 Thean Teng’s mother is 彭亚荫 Phie Ah Im). He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 天定 Thean Teng is named after Dindings High School, a school that 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim founded. English-educated, 天定 Thean Teng attended St Francis School in Sitiawan and Anglo-Chinese School in Kg. Koh, Sitiawan.

 

A chartered accountant by profession, 天定 Thean Teng has worked as an auditor and financial controller for a number of public-listed companies in the Klang Valley. He is now retired and is pursuing his interest in writing.


天定 Thean Teng married Naik Soo Fong in 1982. They have four (4) children – Yao Jing (Jeremy), Hui Ling (Valerie), Siew Ling (Grace) and U Jing (Daniel). Hui Ling is married and works as an accountant. The other three (3) children are in college. The family lives in the Klang Valley.

Also known as 建少, 一少 It Shaw (David) is the second youngest child of 王叔金 Ong Seok Kim. His mother is 彭亚荫 Phie Ah Im. He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 一少 It Shaw is English-educated, attended St Francis School in Sitiawan.

 

He started work early in life, first as a trainee mechanic in Sitiawan at the age of 15, then left for Singapore to join the army. He returned to Malaysia, worked in the hospitality and food business, and construction industry. He became a contractor, was involved in the construction of houses, factories and commercial buildings.


一少 It Shaw has been deeply involved in charity works since the early 1990s. He was mainly responsible for raising one (1) million Ringgit ($) for the Ong Seok Kim Memorial Education Fund and was the Chairman of its Advisory Board. 一少 It Shaw was also largely responsible for raising funds and the management of the construction of the Haemodialysis Centre in Sitiawan, a non-profit organisation for the treatment of kidney failure of the less fortunate. He is currently involved in raising funds and the construction and management of the operations of a number of non-profit dialysis centres in the Klang Valley.

 

In 1995, 一少 It Shaw organised and funded a family gathering attended by 200 members of the Ong Seok Kim family.

 

一少 It Shaw married Ooi Gek Yian in 1981. They have two (2) children – Zhi Yong (Jonathan) and Pei Yi (Michelle). Zhi Yong works in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Pei Yi works in Melbourne, Australia. She is married.

He was born in Sitiawan, Dindings District. 天送 Thean Sang is English-educated, attended St Francis School in Sitiawan and St.George Institution in Taiping, Perak State. He graduated from the University of Waterloo, Canada.

 

He returned to Malaysia where he worked for over a decade in marketing and sales in Kuala Lumpur.  In 2009, 天送 Thean Sang and his family migrated to Canada, residing in Waterloo/Kitchener, Ontario.


天送 Thean Sang married Guok Soon Wah (Betty) in 1990. They have two (2) children – PeiJune (Maple) and ZhiYang (Malthus). Both the children are still schooling.
